LI Man Charged With Placing Tire Spikes At Police Facilities, Damaging Vehicles, Police Say

A Long Island has been charged with multiple counts of criminal mischief after allegedly tire spikes at various police facilities, causing damage to vehicles.

The incidents took place in Nassau County from May to Monday, July 11, on at least five separate occasions.

Manuel Reis, age 59, of Mineola, was arrested on Thursday, July 14, and charged with:

  • Three counts of criminal mischief
  • Four counts of attempted criminal mischief
  • Four counts of reckless endangerment
  • Three counts of obstructing governmental administration

Detectives said an investigation found that Reis intentionally placed tire spikes in the roadway near Nassau County Police facilities, resulting in the damage to multiple Nassau County Police Department vehicles, as well as a female victim’s personal automobile.
